The Sierra Nevada Torpedo Room in Berkeley is currently closed while we upgrade our guest experience. We plan to reopen with enhanced operations in late August. It is our goal to offer our guests the highest quality beer and experiences, and we expect the upgraded Torpedo Room to provide just that. Thank you for your continued support and patience.

In alignment with Sierra Nevada Brewing Co’s values, this position pursues excellence in all aspects of our Food & Beverage Operations. The Lead Tasting Room Bartender is responsible for maintaining and upholding Sierra Nevada’s Food & Beverage ethos: “The purpose and intent of the Food & Beverage Department is to deliver an unmatchable face-to-face interaction which our guests will remember long after they’ve left our properties.” The Lead Bartender is responsible for all operations while the Tasting Room Supervisor is not on site.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
•Work in conjunction with Tasting Room Supervisor to maintain proper scheduling of staff, maintenance of equipment, and inventory levels of: food, beverage, small wares, and retail merchandise
•Communicate consistently, concisely, and directly with Tasting Room Supervisor with all issues that pertain to the success of the Torpedo Room and SNBC Brand
•Act as Brand Ambassador and role model for the team, consistently demonstrating the SNBC values
•Work directly with the public serving/preparing food and beer, while optimizing the SNBC Experience
•Maintain SNBC beer service standards and integrity while minimizing/eliminating product waste
•Ensure positive guest experiences in all areas of property, all while educating the guest on craft beer and the SNBC Brand
•Ensure all areas of the tasting room are up to SNBC Standards: Retail and merchandise, Food & Beverage operations, and beer displays
•Maintain cleanliness of all areas of the facility, including but not limited to the food prep area, all guest facing areas, restrooms, and office
•Adhere to local regulatory department food standards and SNBC service levels
•Maintain highest integrity of fiduciary responsibilities through money handling, POS systems, and financial reporting
•Uphold standards which exceed regulatory industry standards for health code, quality, and cleanliness (including proper food rotation, time and temperature standards, and Food & Beverage sanitation guidelines)
•Support “On and Offsite” local marketing plans and initiatives to increase guest traffic, which may include but not limited to local festivals, markets, and activities

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience
•Minimum of two years of customer service experience in a retail, quick-service or full-service restaurant environment, taproom, or brewery is required
•Minimum of one-year bartending experience is required
•Cicerone Beer Server certification is highly desired

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
•An interest in and love of craft beer and local and artisanal food
•Possesses and exhibits the drive to provide exceptional customer service in a fast paced work environment
•Basic computer knowledge, specifically POS System, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
•Ability to consistently maintain professionalism, collaboration, and self-motivation
•Ability to motivate employees to work as a team to ensure food and service meet appropriate standards

•Duties are performed in both indoor and outdoor settings, with events often taking place in the elements in all four seasons

Physical Demands

•Must be able to lift 30 pounds without assistance and maneuver 168 pounds safely with proper body mechanics
•Moving of food products with carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other moving equipment
•This position will require you to stand, walk and be on your feet for long periods
•Ladder climbing
•Bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and performing repetitive motions
•Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus in various levels of lighting

Additional REQUIREMENTS
•Full time flexible hours are required (able to work days, nights, weekends, holidays)
•Must have a valid Driver’s License with a driving record free of any major violations in the last five years
•Occasional travel within a 30-mile radius
•Must provide your valid CA Food Handlers Certificate prior to hire
•Must become certified in the TIPS alcohol awareness program within 90 days of hire
•The selected candidate must pass a post offer pre-employment background and driver’s license check
•You must be at least 21 years of age to work for Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.
